¡Vamos a ver…!
(Necesitamos saber sobre: Facilities for disabled guests, Wheelchair accessible)
La Comida: ¡Un Festín para el Alma! (Y para el estómago, claro)

¡Château de la Galissonnière: El Secreto Mejor Guardado de Francia!¡Ay, dios mío! ¡Preparados, listos… ¡ya! (Or, you know, whenever I decide to actually pack) This is it. The Playa de Quenxe, Spain trip. My first solo adventure! Or, as I'm calling it: Operation Get My Act Together (Maybe). Here’s the (very loose) plan, if you can even call it that:
Día 1: Arrival (and utter chaos)
Morning: Flight from… well, let’s just say it was an experience. Packed way too much, almost forgot my passport (again!), and the security guy gave me a look when he found my emergency stash of chocolate in my carry-on. Seriously, who needs a weapon when you have the power of chocolate? Landed at a chilly Santiago de Compostela, and the struggle was real while finding the shuttle that would take me to the hotel.
Afternoon: CHECK-IN. FINALLY! Hotel Playa de Quenxe looks even better in person than the photos. Seriously, those ocean views? Drool. The receptionist was super sweet, even though I probably looked like a drowned rat (thanks, Spanish weather!). Tried to say “Hola” and it comes out as something between a strangled frog and a dying seagull. Note to self: Brush up on the basics.
- Important Lesson Learned: My Spanish is… rusty. Like, really rusty. I'm already relying heavily on Google Translate. And hand gestures. Lots of hand gestures.
Evening: Walked to the beach just in time for the sunset. Stunning. Complete and utter gloriousness. Found a little chiringuito (beach bar) and ordered tapas. The octopus? To die for. Tried to order a second round in Spanish. Epic fail. Ended up pointing and smiling profusely. Hey, it worked! Also, somehow, managed to spill half my drink on myself. Smooth move, Grace. First day and already a legend.
Día 2: Exploring (and the Great Lost Map Debacle)
Morning: Woke up to the sound of waves and the smell of… pan. Pure bliss! Wandered around the cute little town. Tried to find the local market, got completely lost and my map was pretty useless, because I thought I was pretty good at reading maps. Wrong. Had an utterly embarrassing moment when I accidentally walked into a bakery and starting speaking Italian (don’t ask). Anecdote: Found a little bakery I had heard a lot about. Tried to ask for recommendations… completely botched it with a jumble of Spanish and Italian. The baker just stared at me, confused. I left with two croissants, very ashamed of myself . Nevermind, they were delicious.
Afternoon: The Beach! Beach day! Spent hours just lounging, reading a book (okay, mostly people-watching), and pretending I knew what I was doing. Found some amazing shells. I almost drowned a couple of times – the waves were surprisingly strong. Swam out a bit far and got caught in a current. Screamed (silently, of course, because I'm too mortified to make a scene) and eventually kicked my way back. Note to self: Respect the ocean. and maybe learn to swim.
Evening: Dinner at a restaurant I thought I booked. Turns out, I thought wrong. Ended up eating the biggest, most amazing seafood paella of my life at a place down the street. Sat alone, watching the world go by. Felt surprisingly content. Actually… felt like me.
Día 3: Doubling Down on an Experience – The Hiking (and the Wild Boar Scare!)
Morning: Okay, today I'm being adventurous. I'm going to hike a coastal trail. Saw some amazing pictures some time ago. Thought I’d take one and come back – the route looked pretty easy from the website. I was wrong. So, wrong. Got lost immediately. Kept walking, eventually ending up on a trail that was probably more for goats than humans. The views, though. Breathtaking. Seriously, the coastline here is unreal. Like something out of a movie.
- Emotional Reaction: There were times when I genuinely thought I wasn't going to make it back. Sharp cliffs, narrow paths… My inner monologue was a hilarious blend of panic and awe. "Don't look down… Oh god, I'm going to die a slow, agonizing death… Okay, breathe…"
Afternoon: I turned around and realized I needed proper equipment when I saw a mountain. The terrain suddenly got a lot steeper. Then, the wild boar. Yes, a real, live, wild boar. I was scrambling up a rocky incline, completely out of breath. Suddenly, this huge hairy beast pops out from behind a bush. I swear, I froze. Then, it snorted, looked at me, and wandered off (thank God). Never in my life I’ve been so terrified, but also so… exhilarated? I spent the next hour convinced it was going to come back to finish me off.
- Quirky Observation: I now know how to run uphill faster than I ever thought possible. Also, wild boars have a very judgmental stare.
Evening: Collapsed back at the hotel, covered in mud and smelling faintly of… adventure? Ordered a giant pizza (I earned it!). Spent the evening reliving the day. The views were an unforgettable memory. I am not sure I’d ever hike again!
Día 4: Rest and Relaxation (and the Language Barrier Tango)
Morning: Finally, a day for rest. It’s time to hit that spa. Massages, facials, pampering… the works! Of course, there was the small matter of explaining what I wanted to the lovely, but Spanish-speaking spa attendant. Google Translate became my best friend.
Afternoon: Walked into the town again. Tried to buy myself a little souvenir. Managed to accidentally buy three instead of one. Oops! And I've got to learn how to haggle. The price has to be cheaper!
- Opinionated Language: Food in Spain is just heaven. Everyone I met here has been super lovely. The culture is rich, and the pace of life is slow.
Evening: Another chiringuito session. Watched the sunset. Felt… peaceful. Thinking about ordering another jug of sangria; this is getting dangerous.
Día 5: Departure (and the Unfinished Business of Spain!)
- Morning: Last breakfast. Salty tears in my eggs. Packing up. Saying goodbye to the view. This is seriously hard.
- Afternoon: Shuttle to the airport. One last look at the ocean. Already plotting my return.
- Evening: Flight home.
- Emotional Reaction: Bittersweet. Exhausted. Excited to go home, but already missing the freedom, the food, the everything. This was the best experience of this year. This time with myself.
- Messier Structure and Occasional Rambles: I really tried. I wanted to see it all. I’m already planning my return and getting ready for another adventure. Can't wait for what comes next.
¡Hasta la vista, España! I’ll be back… with better Spanish next time, I promise!
