Itinerary: Operation Fengwu Square Feast (and Survival)
(Note: This is more of a suggestion than a rigid timetable. Let’s face it, I’m not a robot. Things will go sideways. Embrace the chaos.)
Day 1: Arrival & the Great Shell Hotel Encounter (Prepare for Mild Panic!)
- 14:00 - Arrival at Xinzhou Wutaishan Airport (or whatever dusty airstrip they call an airport). Okay, first hurdle: Customs. Pray the visa gods are smiling. Seriously, I’m not particularly good in this process. The first rule of travel is: Never trust your luggage to the airline. Always. Bring snacks. Lots of snacks. No por eso significa que sea una mentira descarada. Shanxi, de por sí, es un tesoro escondido. Y el Hotel Shell Fengwu Square… bueno, digamos que ESCONDE bien sus defectos, que haberlos, ¡haylos!
Mi experiencia: Llegué hecho un flan después de un viaje en tren que parecía sacado de una película de terror, y lo primero que vi fue la fachada. Impresionante. Literalmente, me quedé boquiabierto. Luego, la recepción… un poco caótica, la verdad. Pero, ¿paraíso? Un poco exagerado, pero te aseguro que es *mucho* mejor de lo que yo esperaba. Lo de escondido, también es cierto. No está exactamente en medio de la nada, pero sí hay que buscarlo un poquito... lo cual, para mí, es un plus.

Tenían de todo: fideos (¡sí, fideos para desayunar!), bollos al vapor rellenos (¡deliciosos!), huevos, vegetales, fruta fresca (¡la sandía era espectacular!), y... ¡un montón de cosas que ni siquiera sé qué eran! Pero, todas buenísimas y muy auténticas. La verdad, por el desayuno, daba igual lo demás. Me levantaba con una sonrisa, dispuesto a comérmelo TODO.
Y fuera del hotel, ¡hay mucho! Hay puestos de comida callejera con cosas raras y sabrosas, restaurantes locales con platos tradicionales... ¡un festín! Prepárate para probar cosas nuevas y para no dejar de comer.
¿Se habla inglés en el hotel? ¡Porque mi chino es... inexistente!
Ejem... la respuesta es... *con cautela*. El personal del hotel... digamos que su nivel de inglés varía. Algunos hablan un poco, otros no tanto. Prepárate para usar gestos, Google Translate, y mucha paciencia.
Mi experiencia: Intenté pedir un taxi. La recepcionista entendió "taxi". Pero luego... la comunicación se complicó. Me hizo dibujar un taxi. Yo hice gestos de "lugar". Ella me señaló un mapa.
